Accessible COVID-19 statistics tracker

For many people with disabilities, much of the data available regarding the COVID19 (coronavirus) outbreak is in a graphical format, which is impossible to access. It is my hope that this site can serve to solve the lack of information by making critical statistics available in a text format that is easy to read and understand.

If you wish to support the work or maintenance of the website, please consider donating to any organization of your choice, such as mutual aid networks that are forming in communities across the globe to meet the needs of those most impacted by this pandemic. Please remember to show compassion, care, and patience as we weather this crisis together. If you are able, check in on friends, family, and neighbors, particularly the elderly and others who are high risk and vulnerable.

I have also added at the request of quite a few users a donation section to this page, which can be found at the bottom. Please do not feel obligated to donate if you, or anyone around you would benefit from the contribution.

This site is a work in progress and I am updating it as much as possible. Please see the change log at the bottom of the page for the most recent updates. I would also like to thank everyone who supported me in this project, shared the posts, helped circulate and provided suggestions and ideas; without you all, this would not be possible.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

In no particular order:
  • Q: Why is the data different from other sources?
A: The data is provided by an API which obtains it's information by pulling content from various resources. The data we most heavily use on this site is sourced from Worldometers. They also have a FAQ, which can be found here.
  • Q: Why does your data not reset at midnight?
A: The data resets when the API pulls new data from Worldometers. More specifically, it resets the "day" based on the API's clock. Because there is a point between us and Worldometers, this may not always be accurate or specific. I fully realize that this is annoying, and am working on a solution to combat this issue.
  • Q: Why do you not provide the data yourself rather than relying on another source?
A: The API that we use gets multiple billion requests and is robust. I simply do not have the time or energy to devote toward this; it takes a team to run it and keep the data updated. Rather than try to run a parallel project, which I most certainly would not be as successful with, I want to spend my time finding ways to source the data and keep this site as up to date as possible.
